NBC Universal wanted to create a low-key interactive experience that would let users create, share, and communicate. They`ve noticed our Fisix Engine and thought it would be a good theme for a user generated content community.
The Fisix Engine is a physics engine (duh...) for flash based games. We leveraged the power of the Fisix Engine to create a ragdoll based webtoy. The idea is simple - users create a "scene" in which the ragdoll goes through obstacles using an editor and then save it and play it back on demand, much like a video.
To make the scenes play well we had to push the Fisix Engine hard. The result was an editor that gives users the power to draw their own obstacles as well as drag-and-drop more complex items like springs and special joints. We think it`s pretty flexible.
The community built around the editor lets users save their scenes and share them with the rest of the community. Users can then rate and comment on other scenes and even use other scenes as the base for their own scenes. The top 10 even get featured on the home page for the world to see.
